Polyurethane (PUR)

Polyurethane is a closed cell rigid foam. AU&S supplies a variety of urethanes ranging from 35kg/m3 to 200kg/m3 in density. All AU&S urethane contains a special flame retardant additive.

• Low thermal conductivity (k) value
• Can operate at medium-high service temperatures
• Good compressive strength
• Resistant to chemicals and solvents
• Resistant to rot
• Provides no nutrition for pests
• Flame retardant additive
• Buoyancy properties

• Carving for fiberglass moulds
• Marine buoyancy
• Insulation where load bearing is required (coolroom floors)
• Where compressive strength not achievable by styrene is required
• Substitute for wood that will not warp or rot

Polyisocyanurate (PIR)

Polyisocyanurate has similar properties to polyurethane, however it is specifically designed to operate at higher service temperatures than PUR. PIR can typically operate up to temperatures of 140° C, and has a higher fire resistance. AU&S stocks 45kg PIR, and this is traditionally used for the lagging of pipes carrying hot or cold liquid.
